There are many printing devices emerging in market like 3D Printers, 4D Printers, Personal 3D Printers etc.
Let’s talk about 3 Printers. I wish I could find top 3d print fields, where these are mostly used. But it is hard to decide, as these days, fields of usage are changing a lot.
Let’s first talk about 3D Printers in Medical. There are many new printers are in development that can produce “3D Printed Blood Vessels”, “3D Printed Cells”, “3D Printed Heart Valves”, “3D Printed Medical Implants”, “3D printed tissue” etc. Most Interesting one is “3D Organ Printers” that can print an organ and can be used to replace human Organs. There are many of organ print tech in discussion that can even replace internal body parts too. I think, This technology is similar to “bio engineered organ” but that is not exactly same. There are many similar techniques used to create organs like “Lab Grown Body Parts” or “Lab Grown Organ”, that are mix of 3D printing, 4D printing and other techniques. Some of such artificial organs are temporary organ(need replacement after some time) and some of them are “Permanent Artificial Organs”.
May be in future, they will need a kind of “3D Input Device” that can feed all information to computer and then computer can order that information to “3D Organ Printers” to print that. That input device could be scanner, may be, some kind of “3D Face Scanner” is already invented to scan person’s face and print some part of face. Other major use of such printers is having “Personal 3D Printers” to print anything broken at home. Even 3D Printed Home is also in discussion.
If we could have a 3D Input, 3D Printer and 3D scanner, how about sending this 3D printed object to someone else, for same, we could have “3D Fax Machine” too. If we go for real time gaming, we could have “3D Motion Interface” to share motion related information directly to gaming environment. For that we could use normal cameras or
dual lens cameras, where second lens may focus on motion or other aspect of 3D Objects.
4D printing is more related to, when 4th dimensions comes in picture. That 4th Dimension could be time. 4D printing seems more targeting Bio-Printing, where active organs or materials are demanded. It is more related to printing Active Tissues or cells that can transform over time and can change its form.
